• Though every treatment programme is geared to the needs of a specific individual, chiropractic treatment usually involves manual adjustments, to free joints in the spine, or other areas suffering pain or restricted mobility.

• Though some of these adjustments are quite vigorous, they rarely cause pain.

• But sometimes you will hear a click. This is not the sound of something breaking – simply bubbles of natural gas in the synovial fluid that lubricates the joints. Some patients say it proves we’re working hard.

• If a patient is in great pain, or is very nervous, we have other forms of treatment apart from manual adjustment.

RULE 1. – Pain is at the very heart of chiropractic. It’s why most of our patients visit us - and it’s also why some of them are nervous.

RULE 2. – If you’re nervous, your muscles will tense – so manual adjustment will achieve less anyway.

RULE 3. – Manual adjustment can be replaced by technology. It works a bit more slowly, that’s all.
